Providing “integrated services” and “training” for consumers who are coping with “impaired vision.”

To Serve Our Community: We provide a local base for any inquiries regarding low vision issues. We prequalify and subscribe to the Books on Tape library in Daytona Beach for clients. We solicit and recycle assistive technologies, including purchasing same when possible. Through our volunteers we do minor home repairs, assist with bookkeeping and reading of mail. We do referrals of all kinds including working with the Lions Club to access glasses for those who can not afford to buy them through normal channels. We are continually raising money in order to maintain an office in Port Charlotte We provide transportation when Charlotte Transit is not available. We setup Independent Living Classes utilizing Lighthouse of Manasota certified instructors. We arrange for IT assistance training low vision clientsto be better able to use their computers, again, utilizing LoM technicians. WE network with the VIP Peer Group providing them with weekly notes as to the activities of the week, attendance records, etc. and needed typing and printing. We register visually handicapped individuals with Charlotte Transit allowing them greater access to many of their needs. We provide a CCTV magnifier for use by those in need of such technology in our office. We do outreaches at various venues in the county alerting low vision individuals of whatwe and (soon) LoM can offer them. We provide an opportunity for individuals to volunteer for a 501 © 3 organization whether it is to flesh out a college application resume or for community service hours imposed by the court system.
